INTERMEDIATE COURSE

USING SKETCHUP IN YOUR DAY TO DAY WORK

Students learning how to use SketchUp

Students enjoying their Sketchup for Garden Design group session at London Stone, Farnham

The SketchUp for Garden Design Intermediate level course is a one-day course, available to students who have previously sat the Foundation level course or to those who are able to demonstrate a suitable level of competency in the basics of the software.

The course is a one day course delivered one to one, (normally at the student's office), in small groups of 3-6 students (please ask for details if you would like to arrange a session for a group of you), or online using screen sharing technology.  By the end of the day, you'll have learned a number of techniques key to incorporating Sketchup into your day to day work as a professional Garden Designer or Landscaper.

As with the Foundation Couse, you'll also be given a comprehensive set of notes to take away with you and offered ongoing support once the day is over so you don't have to worry about forgetting anything you've learned.

Subjects covered include:

  • Plotting hand-drawn surveys into SketchUp.

  • Importing hand-drawn designs into SketchUp and then using them as the basis for creating concept models and plans.

  • Using CAD files provided by third parties such as surveyors.

  • Creating accurate terrain mapping using spot heights and contours.

  • Sourcing and installing extensions and plug-ins.

  • Creating low-poly 2D face-me plant models from photographs with accurate shadow detailing.

  • Creating an easily accessible library of plants for use in planting plans.
