Whether you’re brand new to SketchUp or want to sharpen your garden design presentation skills, our structured courses offer live, expert-led learning with flexible options to suit your pace and experience.
COURSE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT
Our full training programme is delivered over three courses and most students decide to take all three courses in order:

Foundation → Intermediate → Layout.

If you have prior experience, you can submit an example of your work and we’ll take a look and check to see if you can skip a stage, but for most people we advise starting at the beginning and making sure you're up to speed with everything you need.

Course durations vary depending on your skill level. Every student is different in terms of the speed in which they learn so you may finish a little earlier if you're a fast learner!
LEARNING FORMAT AND DELIVERY
All courses are delivered live with a tutor and can be taken either online via Zoom or in person at the student’s home or office, subject to location. The vast majority of students choose the one-to-one online format, which offers a flexible, personalised learning experience and consistently receives excellent feedback. In-person group sessions are available for the Foundation course if a student arranges a group of up to 10 participants; however, we no longer organise group sessions ourselves. To protect the integrity of the course content, sessions are not recorded. After completing a course, students are welcome to reach out with short follow-up questions at no additional cost. For more in-depth assistance, ad hoc one-to-one support is available at £65 per hour.

Thanks to screen sharing, we teach students from all over the world — including Australia, the US, Europe, and Asia. As long as you're happy to be a bit flexible with time zones, you don’t need to be in the UK to enjoying learning SketchUp with us.
I’m so happy I took this course. It’s given me the skills and confidence to be able to use Sketch Up as part of my design process. John is a very patient teacher who is more than happy to answer any questions you have. Everything John teaches is explained in a clear way, with back up resources for you to keep on hand in the future. Would definitely recommend!

Dealing with garden designs and planting plans on small and large scale, it is really important that we are able to offer our customers a professional design, which matches up with our own high standards. We contacted John and talked through our requirements, and he was able to facilitate training to get us creating professional planting plans very quickly and with no prior knowledge. Using SketchUp through John’s bespoke method has allowed us to go from the basics of the software to creating plans and formatting them in layout in a clear, concise, and accurate way. We are really pleased with the results and would highly recommend SU4GD for anybody who is wanting to add a professional edge to their planting plans.

Really happy with the course content and its delivery. Gives you everything you need in a short space of time without cutting corners. I can't recommend John highly enough as a trainer. He creates an excellent learning environment and is highly skilled at helping learners to quickly understand and become familiar with key SketchUp concepts.
